The Unlikely Friendship between a Cattle Dog and a Disabled Kitten

The video below, posted by Wakaleo, shows raw footage of Ralphee the kitten and her new best friend Max— the Cattle Dog. You may also notice something else: Ralphee was born with Feline Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a neurological disorder in which the part of the brain that controls coordination and motor skills is underdeveloped.

Wobbly Cat Syndrome, as it’s also known, doesn’t have to deter from a high quality of life. Kittens born with CH make great companions and often build extremely strong bonds to their guardian. They also feel no pain from the condition and can live long, happy and healthy lives1.

This friendship blossomed as soon as Ralphee arrived, Wakaleo explains, “Ever since Ralphee was brought home, Max is never far away. He appears to be forever curious and watches over Ralphee wherever she goes. Ralphee is growing more mischievous by the day and loves to see what Max is doing as well. She will often get excited when he is nearby and leap in the air before playfully charging in his direction.” How adorable is that? I’ll let you decide for yourself.
