Dog Saves a Life with the Heimlich Maneuver, This Really Happened!

Who says you need opposable thumbs?

Alan Spencer, a 67-year-old man from the United Kingdom, has Lexi, his 18-month-old dog, to thank for saving his life. After Spencer passed out from a pickled onion that got stuck in his windpipe, the devoted Labrador sprung into action and performed a doggy Heimlich maneuver, reports DailyMail.com.

In the video below, Spencer recalls collapsing face down and choking. Then everything started to go black. That’s when his concerned dogs literally jumped into action. “Lexi just came down on my back with one of the most massive thuds I’ve ever felt and the piece of skin off the pickled onion just popped straight out,” said Spencer.

After the dogs saved the day, they wouldn’t leave Spencer’s side. “People will say they are only animals and don’t know what they are doing, but Lexi is so clever. She saved my life most definitely. If it wasn’t for her I honestly don’t think I would be here. If it wasn’t for her actions I would be dead – lying in that passageway dead.”

Three cheers for you, Lexi!
